FORMS AND FUNCTIONS FORMS AND FUNCTIONS

This workshop will be an opportunity for you to learn about healing gardens while also exploring what makes a garden healing for you.

Garden professional Monique Allen will combine traditional instruction with experiential exercises.  She will introduce you to the many faces of a healing garden, both its active and passive forms, while also addressing the question:  "What is a healing garden and why have one?"

An inner exploration of your personal responses to gardens, plants, and the natural environment will aid your understanding of what form your healing garden could take.  For some the garden may include water or be full of medicinal and edible plants; for others the garden may attract butterflies and birds or be full of cutting flowers; for others still it may be a vista seen from an inside window.

We invite all nature lovers to participate in our Healing Gardens classes.  Whether you have a garden, plan to have one, or prefer to visit gardens or other natural spaces, this workshop will teach you about healing gardens and help you explore your responses to them.

Monique Allen is President, CEO, and principle designer of The Garden Continuum based in Medfield, MA.  She is a Certified Landscape Designer, a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional, and an Accredited Organic Land Care Provider.

Monique studied medicinal herbs for 5 years with Deb Soule, founder of Avena Botanicals and utilizes this knowledge in helping herself and her family to stay well.  She maintains numerous gardens at her home, from vegetable to water to medicinal to butterfly.  Each of these gardens provides her with a sense of balance and inspiration in her busy life as mother, wife and business owner.
